A Co-working Space in Ortigas

Hi everyone!

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been busy with the move to the new office, which I’ll be writing about in next week’s blog post!

However, a couple of days before our big move to the new office, the internet connection in our old office building experienced a couple of problems. Being a part of  a digital agency, it was really difficult for us to proceed with work and deadlines from clients without a stable connection.

That being said, we had to find another place to stay, at least for the time that our connection was out.

Luckily, upon searching around, we were able to find a relatively new co-working space a couple of buildings away from our own.

IMG_6899The place is called A Clean, Well-Lighted Place for Workand owned by dotPH domains, Inc., the official domain name registry of the Philippines. The name is a reference to Ernest Hemingway, which is very quaint and interesting!

Co-working spaces are on the rise here in the Philippines, because of start-ups and university students who need a quiet and comfortable space with “free” and fast internet connection (preferably with available sockets to charge their gadgets) to work on their pitches, projects, presentations, create their own content, or just be productive at. The spaces serve as an alternative to coffee shops or libraries, which are now usually full (or even overcrowded).

The rates for A Clean and Well-lighted Place for Work are at PHP100 an hour per person, but this includes high speed internet access (powered by Setsuzoku) though torrenting is not allowed, free use of the available electrical sockets / outlets, as well as unlimited brewed coffee using their coffee maker. You can even add some hazelnut or cappuccino-flavored syrup to sweeten your coffee instead of the usual brown / white sugar, so this was a great plus for me.

Other than the “no torrenting” rule, the only other rules for the co-working space are that you:

  1. Observe respect to both those working at dotPH, and those who have reserved seats at A Clean and Well-Lighted Place.
  2. Clean-as-you-go! Clean up your area once you’ve finished working at your station so that the next person can enjoy the space as much as you did.

Overall, I enjoyed working at A Clean, Well-lighted Place for Work, and if you’re not too concerned about price points (since this can be much more expensive than your average Starbucks stay), then you’ll enjoy this space too!

A Clean, Well-Lighted Place for work can be found at the 27th Floor, Jollibee Plaza, F. Ortigas Jr. Road (formerly Emerald Avenue), Ortigas Center, Pasig City, 1605
