I’m back with another lip product review after a long break from beauty blogging! I noticed recently that my last beauty-related post was 5 posts ago (that’s a whole 2 months)… I’ll try my best to make up for it, so watch out for the beauty posts that I have lined up for the next couple of weeks!
Today I’ll be reviewing a new product from my lip product collection, the Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipsticks!
According to the official website’s description, the Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipsticks are “a velvety high-fashion matte finish which envelops lips in a rich color. Glides on smoothly and stays put throughout the day.”
These lipsticks are a bit pricier as compared to the other lip products that I’ve reviewed so far. Each 0.18oz tube of lip product costs $18 (approximately PHP915), which is almost three times the cost of NYX’s 0.27oz Soft Matte Lip Cream tube.
I currently have two of the twenty-five shades that are currently available as of now, namely Bare with Me (Peachy Pink Nude) and Coral Crush (Bright Coral).
On to my thoughts on the products:
True to it’s name, the Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipsticks are very much liquid in form. They are unlike the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams (which are more creamy in consistency), and more similar to that of Kylie’s Liquid Matte Lipsticks or Jouer Cosmetics’ Long Wear Liquid Creme Lipstick.
Just like the description, the liquid glides easily on the lips, and is generally easy to apply.(The wand comes with the product is superb!)
Drying Time + Transfer
As it is a liquid product, the Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipsticks may take a longer time to dry compared to other products (ex. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream), depending on the number of swipes / amount applied.
One swipe will take about one minute to dry, and an additional swipe will probably take around 90 seconds (a minute and a half) to dry completely. Once dry, the lipstick comes out perfectly matte, and the transfer of the lip product after application is very very minimal.
The staying power of this product is pretty good, in comparison to some of the products that I reviewed recently. The lipstick lasts for around 5 to 6 hours before it needs a re-application or a retouch, unless you eat oily or buttery food.
The pigmentation of the matte liquid lipsticks is good, but it varies per color.
Bare with Me is obviously less spotty in terms of application (with only one swipe), but this is normal for most light colors. Coral Crush takes an extra swipe for it not to be spotty, but the color pay-off of this lipstick is absolutely gorgeous.
Between the two colors, I would definitely say that I prefer Bare with Me, but both colors are very beautiful! I guess it would depend on your mood, or the event that you’ll be using it at, but for everyday use I would definitely recommend Bare with Me!
Coral Crush looks too stark on people with light skin tones (like me) so I’d definitely only use it for special occasions, or if I’m in a vivid / vibrant mood.
If you’ve tried Dose of Colors as well, let me know your thoughts!
