Review: Colourpop Flexitarian Highlighter

Hi all!

As promised, here’s another one of my beauty reviews for this week’s blog post! Over the past couple of weeks (and months), I’ve been talking about and reviewing only a couple of types of beauty products so far (particularly lip products). Therefore, I’ve decided to put another one of my favorite products in the spotlight this time around–highlighters!

To be honest, I wasn’t the biggest fan of very bright and sparkly highlighters up until around March or April, but I did already own a couple of more subtle highlighters! I featured one of them (Missha The Style Defining Blusher / Highlighter) in my daily make up post and review back in January.

Months later, I’m back with a review of another product, this time from Colourpop Cosmetics–the Flexitarian Super Shock Cheek highlighter!

This product is limited edition as of now, but as per Colourpop Cosmetics’ official website description:

“[The Flexitarian Super Shock Cheek] is a long-wearing crème powder cheek formula is the BFF of our famous Super Shock Shadows; it shares the same unique texture that is extremely buildable and blends smoothly to leave the cheeks looking healthy.”

Shade-wise, the highlighter is a white champagne with a pearlized finish. When applied with fingertips, it appears almost like an opaque gold, but after swatching it on the skin of my palm, it appeared almost white (but with a hint of gold).

The product is mousse type in consistency, but when applied to the skin, it finishes similarly to a powder. Application is denser and more opaque when using your fingertips, offering more coverage while when using a brush it is easier to layer and blend in case you don’t want that “BAM, HIGHLIGHTER,” intense type of coverage.

I normally use my fingertips to do the first application of the Super Shock Cheek Highlighter, but afterwards I use a brush to blend out the product so that it doesn’t just look like a huge line of glitter on my cheekbone.

Overall, the product is easy-to-use since you can apply it easily even without a brush. It is long wearing–I can go through the most of the day (around 9 to 10 hours total) and the product stays on my face with little or no fallout.

The texture of the product is good, it’s not grainy, nor does the shimmer harm your skin in any way. It’s fairly blendable thanks to its cream-to-powder mousse consistency. So far, I haven’t shown any signs of allergies to any Colourpop products so this is an additional plus for them.

Pigmentation wise, this is also a good product (especially for beginners) because depending on the amount you apply, you can have many levels of pigmentation ranging from semi-sheer to a medium intense application.

I would most definitely recommend this highlighter, so get it while you can!
