Last October 13, 2017 Maybelline Philippines had a Big Beauty Blowout event at the second floor of the SM Megamall Mega Atrium in line with SM Megamall’s 3-Day Sale.
From the poster, it looked like a really amazing deal–I mean, who wouldn’t want to get PHP1500 worth of make up for PHP499 (that’s one third of the price)!
However, upon reading the comments on the brand’s Facebook announcement post, I found that there were additional rules (and catches) to the promotion that aren’t in the initial announcement post.
First of all, the PHP499 bucket isn’t what you would it expect it to be, based on the picture. This bucket is actually the other bucket that isn’t mentioned in the announcement post, and it costs PHP999.
Long story short, your PHP499 will buy you a “bucket” the size of a pen holder.
Moreover, you only have 3 tries that consist of 1 minute each (which was later on changed to 30 seconds each try when they spread this event to other malls) to get all of the products that you need. You also cannot use your hands to pick up the products at all, you can only use the bucket to scoop or it will not count towards your purchase.
Luckily, my mom arrived early at the venue (around the mall opening time) so we were able to avoid the horrendously long line, and were the fourth or fifth to avail of the promo! We were able to get the following items as a result of the promotion:
|Product Name||Retail Price|
|FitMe! Matte+Poreless Foundation (120 Classic Ivory)||PHP399|
|FitMe! Matte+Poreless Powder (120 Classic Ivory)||PHP399|
|The Powder Mattes Lipstick by ColorSensational in Pink Shot||PHP299|
|Color Show Lipstick Pastel Rocks in Pop of Pink||PHP165|
|Color Jolt Matte Intense Lip Paint in Show Off Nude||PHP299|
|Creamy Matte Lipstick by Color Sensational in Mesmerizing Magenta||PHP299|
If you calculate everything based on their suggested retail prices, as mentioned above, it all comes up to PHP2259, which is a whopping PHP1760 worth in savings!
For me, the greatest steals of the beauty blowout were the foundation and the powder–that’s if and only if you’re able to get the right shade, because Maybelline doesn’t allow you to switch if it isn’t the right shade.
